He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him you give attention. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and in awe of God 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
