The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 who taught the Quran -- 2 Created man, 3 He taught distinctness. 4 The sun and moon rotate in a predestined orbit. 5 and the stars and the trees all prostrate themselves, 6 He raised the sky and set the Balance 7 In order that you may not transgress (due) balance. 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 He has laid out the earth for His creatures. 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 and grains with their husk and fragrant plants. 12 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 13 He has created man out of sounding clay, like pottery, 14 And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke: 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! 17 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 18 He hath let loose the two seas. 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 Pearls and corals come from both. 22 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
