He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 You pay full attention, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you ignore him. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 olives, dates, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
