He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and who has fear of God, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olives and date palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
