The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills - the Lord of the Creation. 29
