The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
