The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news - 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
