The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And dense gardens. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
