The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
