The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
