The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
