The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and extended shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and raised couches 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 We have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for those on the Right, 38
