The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
