Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 raised couches, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
