He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 To him you give attention. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And hath fear, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
