Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 Which the trustworthy Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] has brought down; 193 Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners - 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 Its news was also mentioned in the ancient Books. 196 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 Had We revealed it to a non-Arab 198 And he had read it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this (Admonition) to penetrate the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod). 200 They will not believe in it until they clearly see the grievous chastisement. 201 But when it comes upon them suddenly, taking them unawares, 202 Then they will say: Shall we be respited? 203 So do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Tell Me, if We do let them enjoy for years, 205 and then what they were promised comes to them, 206 What shall that which they enjoyed avail them? 207 And We destroyed no township but it had its warners 208 To remind, and We are never unjust. 209 The devils did not bring it down. 210 And it behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it). 211 They have been precluded from hearing it. 212 Therefore do not worship another deity along with Allah, for you will be punished. 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 Lower thy wing to those who follow thee, being believers; 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 And put thy trust in the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 Who watches you when you get up, 218 and sees your movements among those who prostrate themselves: 219 Verily! He, only He, is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every forgerer steeped in sin, 222 They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars. 223 Poets are followed by the perverse. 224 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 225 And they say what they do not do, 226 The righteously striving believers among them who remember God very often and use their talent to seek help after they have been wronged are the exceptional. The unjust will soon know how terrible their end will be. 227
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Poets (Alshu'araa'). Sent down in Mecca after The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah) before The Ant (Al-Naml)
