The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars fall, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 The closing night, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
