Have you [Prophet] considered the man who turned away, 33 And gave little, and then stopped? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses 36 and of Abraham, who lived up to the trust? 37 That no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another- 38 And that for man shall be naught save that wherefor he endeavoureth. 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 To your Lord will all things eventually return. 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 and that it is He who causes to die, and causes to live 44 And that it is He Who has created the two pairs, male and female? 45 From a drop of semen when emitted; 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth; 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 It is He who utterly destroyed the ancient tribes of Ad, 50 and Thamood, and He did not spare them, 51 and before them the people of Noah who were even more unjust and insolent; 52 And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah). 53 and caused them to be covered with that which He covered them with. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old! 56 The threatened Hour is nigh. 57 apart from God none can disclose it. 58 Do you then marvel at this discourse, 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 While you are indulging in varieties. 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62
