The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
