He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 You pay full attention, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And he fears, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble, pious. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what has God created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and let the earth to break open 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
