The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
