He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him you give attention. 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And whereas he fears, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 his consort, his sons, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Dust shall cover them 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
