The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
