The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
