He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 when the blind came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 lofty and pure, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and grass, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing and joyous 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
