The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
