Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
