The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 It is He Who has taught the Qur'an. 2 Has created Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) as the soul of mankind. 3 He taught him eloquent speech. 4 The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation, 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 And Allah has raised the sky; and He has set the balance. 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 but weigh things equitably and skimp not in the balance. 9 And the earth He has put for the creatures. 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He created man from clay like that of earthenware. 14 And the jinn did He create of smokeless fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 Lord of the two easts and of the two wests is He. 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He hath loosed the two seas. They meet. 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 21 Pearls and corals come forth from both of them. 22 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 25
