And when the sent angels came to the house of Lut. 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful. 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 Fear God and do not shame me." 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs. 75 for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists. 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 Since the People of the Forest were unjust, 78 So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway. 79
