The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 Will pray for death, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
