The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 and a Book inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 by the much-visited House, 4 By the roof elevated. 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
