The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 it is not a jest. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
