The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and a few from later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And spreading shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
