The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ EXTOL the limitless glory of thy Sustainer's name: [the glory of] the Al-Highest, 1 Who creates and proportions, 2 who has ordained and guided, 3 And who brings out the pasture 4 And [then] makes it black stubble. 5 We shall now make you read (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), so you will not forget. 6 unless God wills it to be otherwise. He knows all that is made public and all that remains hidden. 7 We shall ease thee unto the Easing. 8 So remind, if the reminder should benefit; 9 He who fears [Allah] will be reminded. 10 But it will be avoided by those most unfortunate ones, 11 even he who shall roast in the Great Fire, 12 In which they will then neither die nor live. 13 He has certainly succeeded who purifies himself 14 And glorify the name of their Guardian-Lord, and (lift their hearts) in prayer. 15 But you prefer the worldly life, 16 although the Hereafter is better and more lasting. 17 Surely, this is in the ancient Scrolls, 18 the scriptures of Abraham and Moses. 19
