[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 When Shu'aib said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 177 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 178 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 179 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure and do not diminish the goods of people, 181 "And weigh with scales true and upright. 182 And defraud not people of their things, and commit not corruption on the earth. 183 And fear He who created you and the former creation." 184 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 185 “You are just a human like us, and indeed we consider you a liar.” 186 "So cause a piece of the heaven to fall on us, if you are of the truthful!" 187 (Shu'aib) said: "My Lord knows well what you are doing." 188 But they denied him, and We seized them with the torment of the Day of Shadowing (when the cloud had rained down fire). It was indeed the torment of a terrible day! 189 Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 190 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
