The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
