The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the pages are made public 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
