To whosoever blinds himself from the Remembrance of the Merciful, We shall assign him a satan so he is his companion, 36 And indeed, the devils avert them from the way [of guidance] while they think that they are [rightly] guided 37 At length, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says (to his evil companion): "Would that between me and thee were the distance of East and West!" Ah! evil is the companion (indeed)! 38 On that Day it will not profit you in the least [to know] that, since you have sinned [together,] you are now to share your suffering [as well]. 39 So will you make the deaf listen or show the path to the blind, and to those who are in open error? (The disbelievers whose hearts are sealed, are deaf and blind to the truth). 40 Even if We take you away from the world, We shall surely take vengeance on them 41 Or (if) We show you that wherewith We threaten them, then verily, We have perfect command over them. 42 Follow devotedly that which is revealed to you. You are certainly on the right path. 43 and, verily, this [revelation] shall indeed become [a source of] eminence for thee and thy people: but in time you all will be called to account [for what you have done with it]. 44 And ask thou Our apostles whom We sent before thee: appointed We gods, beside the Compassionate, to be worshipped? 45
