The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
