The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
