We indeed created man; and We know what his soul whispers within him, and We are nearer to him than the jugular vein. 16 Moreover, there are two scribes, one each sitting on the right and the left, recording everything. 17 Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record]. 18 And the stupor of death will come in truth; that is what you were trying to escape. 19 The trumpet will certainly be sounded. This will be the day (about which you) were threatened. 20 And there shall come every soul therewith shall be a driver and a witness. 21 Certainly you were heedless of it, but now We have removed from you your veil, so your sight today is sharp. 22 And (unto the evil-doer) his comrade saith: This is that which I have ready (as testimony). 23 Cast ye twain into Hell every person rebellious, contumacious. 24 "Who forbade what was good, transgressed all bounds, cast doubts and suspicions; 25 "Who set up another god beside Allah: Throw him into a severe penalty." 26 ۞ His companion will say: Our Lord! I did not lead him into inordinacy but he himself was in a great error. 27 [And] He will say: "Contend not before Me, [O you sinners,] for I gave you a forewarning [of this Day of Reckoning]. 28 The sentence that cometh from Me cannot be changed, and I am in no wise a tyrant unto the slaves. 29
