He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 to him thou attendest 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And hath fear, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And We made corn grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 olives, dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 mother, father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
