He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 So you are after him! 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble, pious. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
