Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 When they came to him saying, "Peace be with you," he replied to their greeting in the same manner and said to himself, "These are a strange people". 25 Then he went apart unto his housefolk so that they brought a fatted calf; 26 And placed it before them, (saying): "Will you not eat?" 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: Fear not! and gave him tidings of (the birth of) a wise son. 28 Then his wife came forward, making moan, and smote her face, and cried: A barren old woman! 29 They said, "Even so has thy Lord spoken: and He is full of Wisdom and Knowledge." 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 “To throw upon them stones of baked clay.” 33 Marked, from before thy Lord, for the extravagant. 34 We saved all the faithful in the town. 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 And so We left therein a message for those who fear the grievous suffering [which awaits all evildoers]. 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 The Pharaoh and his forces turned away from him, saying, "He is either a magician or an insane person". 39 Then We laid hold of him and his hosts and flung them into the sea, and he was reproachable. 40 And also in Ad, when We loosed against them the withering wind 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time." 43 But they disobeyed the command of their Lord; so they were destroyed by a thunderbolt, and they could only gape, 44 Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
