The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
