The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
