The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
