He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 you attend to him, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and fearfully, 9 you ignore him. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
