The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
