He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 to yield therein corn, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
